What’s the easiest way to make friends on the first night?

That first night can set the tone for the whole cruise. If you’re traveling solo—or just want to meet people beyond the group you came with—what actually works? Sail-away party? Sitting at the bar? Trivia? Dinner? Just introducing yourself? What’s your go-to move?

I'm a fan of trivia and some of the other activities of that nature, such as Name That Tune. On my most recent sailing, most of the cruisers I chatted with were others who were also at multiple trivia events. Karaoke might be another option for those who don't mind the spotlight, as are some of the interactive game shows such as 'Battle of the Sexes'.
