Carnival Jubilee Was a Good Time — Just Wish I Met More People

I went on the Carnival Jubilee last November for a 4-night cruise, and honestly, I didn't really know what to expect going into it. This was more of a family reunion cruise than anything else. My extended family had been planning it for a while, and I kind of tagged along. I'm single, and most of the people on the trip were either older relatives or couples with kids, so I knew going in that I might be doing a lot of solo wandering.

That said, the ship itself is impressive. It's huge, super clean, and there's always something going on. Even if you're by yourself, you're not really bored unless you choose to be. I spent a lot of time just exploring — there are so many different areas, bars, food spots, and random places to just sit and people-watch.

Food was solid overall. Not mind-blowing, but definitely good enough that I never felt like I was missing out. The buffet was what you'd expect, but I actually liked some of the included restaurants more than I thought I would. Late-night pizza became a bit of a habit.

One thing I will say — the drinks felt a little light. I'm not saying they were completely watered down, but compared to what I'd expect for cruise prices, they didn't hit very hard. I found myself ordering doubles or just sticking to beer after the first day. Not a huge deal, but definitely noticeable.

The vibe on the ship was pretty rowdy. It's Carnival, so that's kind of part of the deal, but it leaned more into the party crowd than I expected for a shorter cruise. Lots of loud groups, big energy around the pool, and a lot of people going hard from pretty early in the day. It was fun to watch and be around, but it didn't always translate into actually meeting people.

That was probably the biggest downside for me. I was hoping to meet some new people since I didn't really know many people in my own group. I tried using CruiseHuddle before the trip and even checked it during the cruise, but it didn't really go anywhere. It's a cool idea, but it felt like it was just too new — there weren't enough people on there yet to actually connect with anyone.

On the ship itself, I found it a little harder than expected to break into conversations. People were mostly sticking with their own groups, and with the party atmosphere, it wasn't always the easiest environment to just casually meet people unless you're super outgoing. I had a few random conversations here and there, but nothing that really turned into ongoing hangouts.

That said, I still had a really good time. Even just bouncing between family events, grabbing drinks, catching shows, and hanging out on deck was enough to make it feel worth it. The entertainment was actually better than I expected, and there was always something happening at night if you wanted to stay out.

The shorter length of the cruise also made it feel like things moved fast. By the time I started to settle into a rhythm, it was already wrapping up. I think a longer cruise might've made it easier to connect with people or find a groove socially.

Overall, I'd definitely go again. It wasn't perfect, but it was fun, and the ship itself is great. I'm actually going on Icon of the Seas in a few months, and I'm hoping that between a different crowd and CruiseHuddle hopefully being more active by then, it'll be a bit easier to meet people.

If you're going on Carnival Jubilee, I'd say go in expecting a lively, high-energy atmosphere, don't take the drinks too seriously, and just be open to whatever the trip ends up being. Even if you don't make a bunch of new friends, you'll still have a good time.
