Port Canaveral is a bit of a pain to get to compared to other Florida ports but once there everything moved smoothly.

Edge Class ships are fantastic.

Unlike any other cruise I’ve been on. This one happened during the Superbowl. Celebrity hosted a watch party in the forward theater along with a good spread of “tailgate” food.

Like many Celebrity ships, there was mainly an older retiree crowd on board. But a decent amount in the 40-70 range.

Apex, is a beautiful ship with lots to offer. HOWEVER, I like playing video poker in the casino and this ship had the worst offerings i’ve ever seen on a cruise ship…. There were 6 machines in the whole casino and they were almost always occupied until much later at night. One or two of those machines were often used for video Keno, which again I think were the only machines in the whole casino to offer that.

As for ports:

Key West, FL - in my opinion the best “caribbean” port. Very safe and easy to walk around. Lots to see, do and eat. Not really a beach stop but there are some if that’s what you want to do.

Grand Cayman - tender port which is a pain. Some typical shopping, restaurants and bars right there. Beach day seems to be the thing to do. Not too much else in terms on excursions.

Cozumel, Mexico - decent port overall. Lots of excursion options, biggest downside is the popularity. There can be several large ships in port at once which really swamps the dockside shops and bars.

Would I go again? Route, absolutely yes. Port, yes. Ship….not unless it was a comped cruise or a cruise that other’s had planned and I joined in on. The ship itself is fantastic but not being able to get a seat at video poker is a problem for me. I like to gamble a bit to qualify for casino comped cruises but I have no interest in waiting around for hours for 1 of 6 machines to “open up”. Thus I would likely choose a different ship out of a different (easier to fly into) port, for my caribbean cruise.

Pros

Key West, Superbowl and Edge class ship design.

Cons

Lack of video poker machines, older crowd with less late-night night life than other caribbean cruises.

Tips

For Port Canaveral, fly in 2 days early if you can. Stay near the space coast and spend a full day going to see the Kennedy Space Center. It’s worth going to.
